BE-ING SALON: MY JAPANESE BEAUTY EXPERIENCE IN DAVAO

The thing with the woman that I am, is that, I don’t really get myself tied up with just one particular hairstylist or salon with my hair grooming routine. My logic dictates that whenever someone gets into this kind of business, they got skilled people on board to do my hair, manis|pedis and other salon jobs I'd want. So all too often, I find myself trying one salon to another trying out their services and skills.

So when I got invited to try out this new Japanese Salon which will be opening in May here in Davao, I said yes without a second thought.

Be-ing Salon is conveniently located at the ground level of Be-ing Suites Davao. It’s a spacious and spotless place all decked with Japanese-inspired dressers and state-of-the-art salon equipment.

More than the aesthetics of this place is the humbling story how this business started.

Hideki Ota, who is the owner and stylist for 44 years, started his chain of salon and spa, Hair Corporation in Saga, Japan. Knowing that Japan’s ageing population will eventually affect his manpower,  he began searching for right people and solution to address this setback so that there will be continuity and possibility to further his business expansion.

In 2002, Hideki Ota came to Manila to research Philippines’ salon businesses. He later found out that most local salons use cold water in hair treatment resulting to hair damage.

This awareness has encouraged him to introduce to the Philippines an authentic Japanese Salon experience using warm water and specialised hair care using Tan san sen shampoo to achieve a fuller and healthy looking hair for Filipinos.

to customers, especially the pregnant and the senior clients.

Most of the salons I've been to here in the city had this stationary-type washing chair, it would hurt my neck so bad looking upwards just to give the stylist a good grip of my hair. This modern equipment let's you sit first and then your stylist would step on a button to recline it so you would be lying straight with your head into the sink. How awesome!

The salon shampoo sink has this rubber headrest, it doesn't hurt at all. They use warm water and 'Tan san sen' formulated shampoo that can make hair look fuller and healthier. Mac-Mac, my stylist had my face covered with a towel and spent a good time massaging my head. God, that kind of relaxing feeling you just want to stay that way for so long and sleep, so good!

Got my hair colored a shade lighter. It took the coloring procedure a little longer since a lot of my gray hairs are happily showing, lol.
