Marco Polo Davao Shining Holidays Lighting Ceremony and Cocktails

It’s officially Christmas at Marco Polo Davao! The hotel held its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Friday, November 17 with special guests, hotel associates, bloggers and media friends joining the ceremonial lighting.

It was a lovely night and was even made lovelier as Melodies of Marco Polo Davao serenaded the guests with cheerful Christmas carols, everyone even joined to sing the chorus.  Mr. Tirso Bitacura, Marco Polo Davao’s Acting Director of Finance welcomed the guests.

Mrs. Virginia Anderson, the night’s guest of honour was joined by Marco Polo Davao General Manager, Dottie Wurgler-Cronin and Major General Noel Clement of the 10th Infantry Division in the ceremonial switching-on of the Christmas lights.

The whole hotel compound glowed with gold, white and nut-colored native ornaments fit for this year’s theme, Shining Holidays. The lobby was decked with a 12-ft. Christmas tree filled with golden decorations. And true symbol of Christmas of the Filipinos – The Belen took centerstage with shimmering lights and decors that is just so pleasing to the eyes.

And as always, Marco Polo Davao brings every occasion a notch higher. Along with the lighting was also the launch of the hotel’s Bangon Marawi Donation Drive. It’s the hotel’s advocacy to help in the rehabilitation of Marawi City. Guests can take part in helping by hanging a Christmas Star at the tree. Each star represents any amount of donation and the star will be named after the donor.

“Christmas is a season of great joy, a time for remembering the past and hoping for the future. May this lighting ceremony be a symbol of hope to our country and a reminder to us that we can be an instrument of bringing lightness to the darkest moments of our fellow Filipinos.” said GM Dottie Wurgler-Cronin.

Marco Polo Davao’s lighting ceremony was attended by Department of Tourism Regional Director Robbie Alabado, Councilor Bernie Al-ag, Davao City Tourism’s Generose Tecson, Davao Tourism Association, Hijos de Davao Foundation, JCI DavaoeƱa Daba-Daba and JCI Davao Inc., friends from the media and partners from the corporate and private sector.

Guests were then treated to a sumptuous cocktail at the Eagle's Bar.

Merry Christmas!
