See you again, Hong Kong!

Hong Kong, I must say is one of the uncontested top-of-the-mind destinations of the Filipinos. I had a chance to bring my whole family there last summer and albeit expensive at least from my own standard, we truly had the best time exploring the city from its beautiful harbours, culinary delights, night markets, sight-seeing, theme parks, people watching and shopping along, I mean window-shopping 😜along its luxury-brand-lined roads and humungous malls. This most vibrant and multicultural cosmopolitan city in Asia really fare so well in terms of satisfying a traveller’s interest.

I have exciting news for all of you my dear readers! On September 19, the director of communications of Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotels, Samantha Poon and the assistant general manager for marketing and promotions of Harbour City shopping mall, Ms. Karen Tam were in town to bring Davaoenos good cheers from Asia’s World City.

Samantha Poon, Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotels' director of communications
shared to Davao media the exciting news of what awaits Davaoenos at the three
Marco Polo hotels in Hong Kong.

Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotels General Manager, Dalip Singh
GM Dalip Singh
GM Dalip Singh was supposed to be with the team that meet us on Thursday, but due to some significant duties back in Hong Kong we weren’t able to meet him. But hope one day, I’ll meet him too.

Nonetheless, to give you assurance that you’re in good hands with Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotels, GM Dalip is a seasoned hotelier with more than two decades of experience in the industry with expertise in hotel operations, safety and security, corporate operations and hotel pre-opening management.

His work experience covers senior management positions with reputable hotel groups including The Ritz Carlton and Dusit Hotels operating in Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai.

“Dalip has been a key driver in the three Hong Kong hotels’ improvement goals and initiatives, resulting in improved business performances, as well as guest and associate engagement metrics. He was also instrumental in the achievement of the Hong Kong Management Association Quality Award earlier this year and created an even stronger team spirit and alignment between the three hotels’ operations through this process. With his knowledge and organisational expertise, we are certain that Dalip will further strengthen the performance of the three cluster hotels,” said Dr. Jennifer Cronin, President Wharf Hotels.

In addition, here is another exciting news from Harbour City where the three properties of Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotels are located.

With over 450 shops, 60 and counting food and beverage outlets, galleries, office spaces, Star Ferry Pier, cruise line berths and so much more these make Harbour City the largest and iconic mall in Hong Kong.

I had quite a good time when we here the last time. We didn’t do a lot of shopping though, but we did a lot of walking and eating around. My son had a blast at Toys R Us, thought it’s probably one of the largest toy stores in the world. At one point I have to beg–off walking and ask them to just come back for me at one corner as my feet worn off on me already. If you want to splurge and do serious shopping in Hong Kong, Harbour City is the place to be.

Ms. Karen Tam, assistant general manager for marketing and promotions of Harbour City revealed that the new view deck expansion of the harbour is now operational and guests coming from Marco Polo hotels can just walk their way to this expansion and enjoy ceaselessly the incredible  panoramic view of Hong Kong from the harbour. Various events are also being held here from time to time so guests will have no idle time while exploring this part of Harbour City. There are also additional dining shops on this area where guests don’t just eat by the harbour but in the harbour, she said.

Yay! I can’t wait to go back and explore this wonderful part of Hong Kong again. So Davaoenos, pack your bags and lets go explore Hong Kong!

It was a pleasure meeting you, Ms. Karen and yes I'm considering the possibility of expanding and opening Davao Digital Influencers to international members, hahaha! The 70th spot is yours, I really hope to see you again.

Delightful hors d'oeuvre were served before the program and followed by a full course dinner prepared by Marco Polo Davao Executive Chef Alex Destriza.

For dinner we had the Organic roast duck with cucumber pancake and hoisin sauce, Braised sea cucumber with superior pumpkin egg soup, Steamed tiger prawn & minced scallop with mashed garlic, braised bok choy, steam ball bun, Chinese spicy chicken with peanuts, Slow-roasted lamb chops with berries, Fried rice with scallions and we capped it off with Trio mini buns in salted egg, mashed sweet potato and red bean.
