Celebrity Chef Donita Rose, the Brand Ambassador of Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil, kicks off her first leg of Regional Festival tour at Gaisano Mall on August 20 here in Davao in time for Kadayawan Festival celebration.

Chef Donita Rose came for a cooking demonstration, showing off her cooking techniques featuring her unique and signature dish, the Chicken Curry with Durian.
What we notably know about durian is that they’re abundant in Davao and they’re mainstays to a lot of desserts and frozen delights. We seldom see durian as an ingredient for a main dish and seeing how Chef Sonny, Donita’s Sous Chef during the show poured in real durian meat to the curry mixture tugged up excitement in me how the dish would fare with durian. Interestingly, after the cooking demo we had a chance to sample her finished dish – and it was actually good.
Sauce so creamy. The curry just right. Taste so good. The milder than mild whiff of durian is perfect for non durian eaters. If I’ll do my version of this recipe, it’ll be durian all the way. Yay! Durian in Agdao Public Market now sells P30/kilo, perfect time to cook!

In a small table talk with Chef Donita during the Meet and Greet at Rekado Restaurant, she emphasized the use of abundant local ingredients in her recipes. This is what we can expect in her special dishes along with the use of Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil in the course of her regional festival tour around the country, something every local can easily source.
“We must always be conscious that the ingredients we use should be good for the heart, like Jolly Heart Mate Canola oil which contains the lowest amount of bad fats (saturated fats) but packs in the good kind like omega 3 and 6 that are good for the heart,” Donita shared.

I’m a mother of 3, 4 including my husband :p and I’m a regular of GMall supermarket. I have to be honest that while I often see this brand on the shelf, I never really attempted to pick one. All for the very cultural reason that this is not my usual brand. And also for the fact that, I have limited knowledge of the product. I’m one customer that needs first hand info to believe and try it to possibly shift.
This event is quiet enlightening for me. The casual talk with Ma’am Zeny Prudentino, Senior Product Manager explaining the benefits of Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil made me decide to try.
