Plus 30 pictures why this island
will be your next destination
We planned this trip like way forever ago. It wasn’t Sumilon Island in Cebu in the beginning but looking at our best options back then, we feel this destination best matched our rest and relaxation yearnings.
So who are the 'we'? Hahaha! I met these girls through blogging. Since we’re all mommies, we share the same wavelength, we kind of gel together so easily. Eventually we found ourselves in coffee shops talking about kids, conveniences and inconveniences and some other mundane stuff only mothers of three and four would understand.
Just in time. Catching the last boat trip to the island.
This eastern view of the island perfectly defines morning serenity.
Our comfy and homey premier deluxe room that faces the ocean.
The facade boasts a majestic view of southern Cebu mountain range.
Women mimic nature and amazingly we have contributed 13 living souls to this world.
Mommy Vanessa got three, Mommy Ces has three, I got three too
and Mommy Lovely has 4.
And what better way to celebrate womanhood
than a prosperity bond pose on this gorgeous villa.
Crazy ladies make great girls friends, hahaha! #MomSquad
I’m just so thankful I’ve passed the critical stage of raising babies and toddlers. My kids can now manage on their own. I think that’s the beauty of teaching them life hacks so early in life you can leave the house without so much worries about them getting into trouble. And since I’m patting my shoulder for doing a good job on this, I’m rewarding myself of going somewhere far, again without checking on them from time to time how they’ve been.
Spending time with your family is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. But sometimes, for woman’s sanity sake you need to break the routine and spend time with your friends, especially girl friends with no kids calling asking where the heck their underpants were. And so the Bluewater Sumilon trip was planned.
Since most of us have jobs back home we only have the weekend to spare. We left Davao Friday morning via AirAsia to Cebu. We initially planned to take the bus going to Oslob in south Cebu because we thought hiring a van was expensive. But when we boarded our Grab car at the airport which was a new Innova and sweet talk the driver if he can drive us down to Oslob, I think it was our lucky day. Melchor our driver counter offered 4K to drive us south and we didn’t blink twice saying, larga! So much for that expensive thought, hahaha! At least it saved us P800.
It took us 3 and a half hours to reach the Bluewater jetty at Brgy. Bancogon in Oslob. We arrived at exactly 4:30PM just in time for the last boat trip of the day to leave the jetty. Just our luck or we could have paid 1K for a special boat trip.
The boat ride was a relaxing shift after hours of butt-numbing car ride. Seeing the majestic mountain range of South Cebu as we leave the jetty, I could imagine a Santorini-like wall of resorts in a not so distant future there. The place is really promising. It was a very short boat sojourn, 10 minutes was all we got on the sea and we’re disembarking at the eastern dock of the island resort.
The moment we set foot on the island, everyone we met wears a smile and greets us ‘maayong hapon’. All their staff are gently courteous. For me, that sets the tone of a pleasant vibe of our stay on the island.
After a short check-in ritual and information orientation about the island, the five of us pregnant with happy thoughts were then ushered to our villa. It’s a gorgeous exclusive duplex pad that stands on a rocky sea cliff. Glad that the waves on this side of the island are as tame as the whale sharks of Oslob. It’s gently quiet all the time. We have two soft queen beds, surprisingly fast wifi and the bath area is huge. I love the idea that it has a glass peak ceiling that sports a natural light, perfect for bathroom selfie, hahaha!

Because, yeah, why not!
What morning calm looks like in Sumilon
... wish I could do this all the time, beautiful!
Once in a while I blow my own damn mind! Yeah, women!
Best escape anyone can have, an empty beach on an island!
The pavilion where we had our superb buffet dinner hosts all the guests for the night. We weren’t able to met the Chef but bless the hands who prepared the Beef Soup. It was the finest beef broth I had in a while. The spread selection was exceptional, just the nourishment we all need after a day of tiresome journey.
After a short night walk at the lagoon area, we decided to cap the night with a round of mojito. The outhouse bar is cosy with friendly and smiling bartender named Rodel. After the soul-waking beef soup, I had my another best on the island – the legit mojito mixed by Rodel. Fresh, bruised mint, soda water and rum on my highball, entertaining short talks with Rodel and the view of eternally shirtless Oppas on the other side of the bar, hahaha ...with that maybe we can call it a night.
We only have a day to spend on this island so we’ll make the most and the best out of it. So one calm, undisturbed morning on this island is just what every woman’s soul need. It offers a moment of transcendence, a sense of self renewal and a deep reconnection with mother nature. It’s fulfilling.
The summer sea breeze came in a little humid though, but no hot weather can hinder a determination of mommies as fierce as the heat of the summer sun. Ready the camera! Hahaha! Thank you so much Sarah Dayrit for joining us on this trip and for putting up with the crazy antics of these crazy mommas, lab you!
Bluewater Sumilon also has Glamping accommodation. Lexus, their MarComm Officer was so kind to show us around the location. I love the site. It’s clean, it’s secluded and away from the main area where day tourers are allowed. The airconditioned tents overlook the beach with pristine turquoise waters. Glamping here feels like you have the whole island all to yourself. And at night, I bet one will have the clear view of the starry island skies. Just beautiful!
Raw and unperturbed is Bluewater Sumilon's glamp site. I love it here!
What glamping in Sumilon looks like.
Each tent sports a standard Bluewater accommodation.
Each tent comes with airconditioner, a fan and
a promise of exciting camp life experience.
Just how glamping should be! Awesome!
When your glampsite got all the comfy perks you need,
you'll sure be one happy glamper.
Besides a perfect spot for stargazing at night, you'll also be greeted with a view
of the inviting ocean every waking moment you're on this site.
You'll also learn basic bushcraft activities and other important life skills
like primitive cooking, knife care and fire making from
Bluewater's experienced camp masters the whole time you're here.
No dull moments, how awesome experience is that?
But if its me glamping here? I'll ditch all those and lazy on this bamboo veranda all day.

We weren’t able to go to the sand bar because besides time constraint, the tide didn’t go down. Maybe the Earth’s gravitational pull just won’t work with us this time. But this won’t be the first and the last, we also have to feed the baby sharks when we come back
Bluwater Sumilon is truly an island bliss. The gentle summer sea breeze, the empty corners of its beaches, the soothing music of the ocean made me feel so renewed. Exactly just what this weary mom needs.
But more than the beauty of this splendid island destination are the girls I travelled with. God, I truly had an awesome time with you ladies. They say, you’ll know the good people that feeds your soul because you’ll feel good after spending time with them. I think you had my soul got drunk and over fed with luscious chilli crabs at the pavilion, gawwd, I really had a good time with you all, mommies! Let’s do this again.
Somewhere there is an empty beach hammock with my name on it!
And I just found it!
"The three great elemental sounds in nature are the sound of rain,
the sound of wind in a primeval wood,
and the sound of outer ocean on a beach."- Henry Beston
.... discerning the latter on this empty spot of the island.
Island life is when there's two less lonely people in this world
enjoying, feeling and listening to the endless music of the ocean.
What's not to love about this island! It's a day tourers haven too.
"See the line where the sky meets the sea
It calls me
No one knows how far it goes
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me
One day I'll know
If I go there's just no telling how far I'll go"
Nothing else, just being good to myself today :)
Deep and abiding peace is when natural world speaks loudest.
I'd say it again, this is what island destinations are made for,
they give us weary souls moments of transcendence.
Whilst short and quick, it was the sweetest me-time weekend so far.
Thank you girlfriends for ditching your laundry and dirty dishes for this trip.
Bet this won't be the last.

Lastly, on behalf of the ladies, thank you so much Sir Sandy Sandagon of Bluewater for arranging this trip. For hosting us a sumptuous lunch and for treating us to Amuma spa. Hope to see you one of these days in Davao.
Shoutout also to AirAsia for making this trip possible. Thank you so much. We finally had the GCs put to good use. AirAsia flies daily from Davao to Cebu. For your flight bookings visit; https://www.airasia.com.
We left the island boarding the 3:30PM boat bringing with us happy, refreshed thoughts and gigabytes of photos, lol. We need to get back to the mainland with the sun still up as we’re taking the bus back to Cebu City.
I think our lucky mojo was at her best element during this trip. When we get back to the mainland, a resting van that just unloaded its passengers opened its doors for us. It was like it was waiting for us to arrive. When we asked the driver named Cyril if he can take us back to Cebu City he countered to collect a fare we said yes in a heartbeat.
I think when you wish hard for something, the universe will really work to give it to you and in our case, we just got really lucky! Thank you so much ladies for the memorable time. Until next time. (like as if we’re not chatting everyday of our lives, hahaha!)
I’ll be in Bluewater Panglao in Bohol soon. This time with my family. I'm excited to see what awaits me there!

I finally got to have a photo opp with the iconic Bluewater pool.
The view of the ocean is so breathtaking from where I sit.
You should come and see it for yourself.
Sending our love to Sarah Dayrit for putting up with the crazy antics these mommas.
Thank you for finding joy in taking photos of our no-dull moments on this island.
I'm forever grateful.
