5 EASY MAKEOVER TIPS FOR BEDROOMFebruary 28, 2015
The bedroom is in many ways the most important room in the house. It is a room where we spend time with ourselves, a room where we can get to be ourselves. It is a place where spend time to relax, find comfort, hope for sweet dreams and renew our physical vigour to meet the challenges for the day.
But too often, however, it has become a terrible place to stay as we disregard the real sense and dump in so many household items that in the long run made us a Martian of our own bedroom. With all of these stressors around us, what is left is our bedroom to comfort us. Hence, we need a real, good place to take things easy, it’s time to claim back our bedroom and make it our own safe haven again.
Here are five simple and very easy tips you can employ to claim back your bedroom;
Let there be light!
We know for a fact that colours and light affect our mood and influence our thoughts. Although colour and light preference of your room is a personal choice, generally dark colours and rooms make it a little heavy and confined while well-lit and bright colours create an illusion of added space and lightness.
A large mirror can be a smart added wall accent to beam the light inside the bedroom to continue the illusion.
Wall to wall mural
This is one of the things I need to do one of these unoccupied days. You don’t need to commission an artist to paint your wall for you; there are online shops today that can print one for you. Or if you prefer to get yours right away, find a local print shop that can do a large print job, you can even print your face, that is, if you find inspiration from it, why not? Imagine waking up to this kind of view every day? Isn’t it inspiring? The good thing is that you can always take this down and change it to another image you wish to get inspired into.
Find the right bedding
Start by picking the right pillow. Perfect pillows should fill the gap between your head and neck and the mattress. Same pillow should dynamically assume that form when you change position and don’t forget about a nice soft and lightweight duvet, you will feel like you are sleeping on a marshmallow.
Subsequently, find a comfortable bedding. If money isn’t an issue, go for the luxury, nothing beats the cosiest sheet that comes in contact with your skin to dreamland. But if you’re on a budget, there are countless, inexpensive choices in the market waiting for you to be picked. Sometimes, all you need is patience and good sense of feel to find the perfect one.
The key to an organized and stress-free looking bedroom is installation of functional and sneaky storages. Get use of dead spaces to put in your storage. A hanging cabinet, shelf above your headboard, large plastic boxes under the bed, etc. are just few of the many options you can consider. Your imagination is the only limit.
Finally, stake a claim on your bedroom. I know of someone who pasted a wall to wall mural of herself climbing a rock wall. Ask why she chose to have that picture glued on her wall, she answered - it’s a everyday inspiration that always remind her that everything is possible when you put your mind and focus on it. And If you’re not comfortable with oversize photos, you can always opt for other stuff that best reflects your individuality.
