Hello Mommies!

School has officially started and like it or not we’re back to our usual crazy morning grind. If you think school kids are the only ones stressed with school stuff, well, think again. Mommies are too, especially mommies who run the kitchen day in and day out – and yeah, that would be me!

Running a household of five with no extra paid help is as stressful as the word itself. Hence, as much as possible I always put to a bare minimum any chore requirement there is around the house, especially when it comes to kitchen concerns.

Breakfast is one of the most important meals our kids should have. They need the most energy and nutrition from their meal to keep them active and have that undisturbed concentration at school.  I always encourage them to eat heavy breakfast. So much that most of time they come home with a nice savings as they skip buying something for recess and eat straight to lunch.

So today, I’ll be sharing with you a filling, nutritiously simple and easy to make breakfast recipe your kids will love and mommies like me, can get away easily.

For the longest time now, I shun away cooking processed meat for breakfast. This may sound as the long way to go in the kitchen, but at the end of the day, it’s my kids that’ll benefit from it. It may sound tedious too, but there’s always an easy way how to do it.

My kids love fish. It’s a good thing we’re near Agdao Public Market here in Davao so I always get ours fresh and cheap as I have ‘suki’.

So today we're going to make GRILLED MALASUGUE WITH CREAMY MUSHROOM GRAVY

You can opt to fry or grill Malasugue. I prefer mine grilled. If you think grilling in the morning is tough, well, not if you have the right kitchen gear. There are now grilling pans you can buy in the Home Section of any department store, choose a good brand.

Ingredients:
A slice of 30g Malasugue

For marinate:
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbps. Soy Sauce
2 tbps. Honey
2 tbps. Olive Oil

Instructions:

  • Marinate in minced garlic, soy sauce, oil and honey in a bowl the sliced Malasugue. Cover and leave overnight in the fridge.
  • Heat your grilling pan over the stove, pour in a little oil. When it’s starting to smoke, bring to a low the fire and grill in your marinated malasugue.
  • Plate it in when cooked and top it up with creamy mushroom gravy. You can even grill along tomatoes, Jolly Corn or broccoli when available.

CREAMY MUSHROOM GRAVY

Ingredients:
1 298g Jolly Cream of Mushroom
Flour to thicken the cream

Instructions:

  • In a pan, pour in Jolly Cream of Mushroom
  • Simmer the broth. Jolly Cream of Mushroom is already well-seasoned so no need to add in salt, just pepper if you wish to add in a little zing. When too thick add in a little water.
  • Serve in a separate container.
  • Add in the side dish

SIDE DISH

Buttered Carrot/pea/corn

So there you go, mommies! Our easy fish dish for breakfast!
